NVIDIA has officially unveiled DLSS 4.5, marking the next evolution of its Deep Learning Super Sampling technology, which significantly boosts frame rates without compromising visual fidelity.

According to the developers:

DLSS 4.5 utilizes a second-generation transformer model for Super Resolution, offering over five times the efficiency of the original version and trained on a vastly expanded dataset. The result is superior lighting, crisper edges, enhanced motion clarity, and exceptional temporal stability.

This technology effectively solves the problem of detail loss in high-contrast scenes while preserving accurate colors and shadows. While Super Resolution is compatible with all GeForce RTX cards, the most significant advantages are seen on RTX 40 and RTX 50 series GPUs, where the complex model can run with virtually no performance overhead.

A groundbreaking feature, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, allows for the synthesis of up to five additional frames for every traditionally rendered one, achieving up to 6× the standard FPS. On the RTX 50, this enables over 240 FPS in path-traced titles, fully unlocking the potential of 240–360 Hz displays.

DLSS 4.5 also refines the gaming interface—minimaps and HUD elements appear sharper, as seen in The Outer Worlds 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and Starfield. The update is currently available via the NVIDIA App (beta), with a full public release set for January 13, followed by Dynamic and 6X modes for RTX 50 hardware this spring.
