FX to Adapt Ubisoft’s Far Cry as an Anthology Series for Hulu and Disney+
FX is adapting Ubisoft’s Far Cry franchise into an anthology television series that will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ internationally. The production will preserve the franchise’s anthology approach: each season will present a self-contained story, a new setting, and a different ensemble of actors.
The project is spearheaded by Noah Hawley — known for his work on Fargo and the series Alien: Earth — alongside Rob Mac, who will also star in the show. Both serve as executive producers and bring their experience producing genre-driven, character-focused television to the adaptation. A slate of production partners and executives from companies including 26 Keys, 3 Arts, More Better, and Ubisoft Film & Television are also attached.
Hawley described the format as an ideal match for Far Cry’s structure, noting that the series can reinvent itself each season while using its action set pieces to examine human behavior under pressure. Mac expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Hawley and thanked Ubisoft for entrusting the team with the game world’s distinctive tone.

The series currently has no release date and no confirmed cast members beyond Mac. Executive producer credits also include Emilia Serrano (26 Keys), Nick Frenkel (3 Arts), Jackie Cohn (More Better), and John Campisi, with Ubisoft Film & Television executives Gerard Guillemot, John Campisi, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill participating on the studio side.
Ubisoft has previously explored screen adaptations of its properties with mixed results — from the 2010 Prince of Persia feature to the 2016 Assassin’s Creed film. The publisher has also had success on television: 2023’s Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix was an animated take on Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. There is also the widely panned 2008 live-action Far Cry film directed by Uwe Boll, which many fans prefer to forget.
Meanwhile, other video game adaptations continue to arrive: Netflix is developing a live-action Assassin’s Creed series, and the animated Splinter Cell: Deathwatch premiered on Netflix in October and garnered attention during awards season.
