Florence Welch is bridging the gap between music and advocacy by partnering with Planned Parenthood to offer essential reproductive health resources during the next phase of her “Everybody Scream” tour.
The collaboration, announced on Monday, April 6, will see Planned Parenthood representatives stationed at various venues throughout the rock group’s North American trek. These onsite advocates will engage with fans and provide information regarding the organization’s critical healthcare services. Organizers emphasized the urgency of this initiative, citing the current political climate and administration policies that threaten reproductive autonomy.
“Planned Parenthood health centers serve as a vital lifeline for millions, yet they face relentless opposition,” Welch stated. “Access to a reliable provider is not just a necessity; it is often the difference between life and death. In these uncertain times for our fundamental rights, I am honored to support Planned Parenthood and provide a platform on my tour for people to access the care and guidance they deserve.”
Caren Spruch, Planned Parenthood’s National Director of Arts and Entertainment, praised the singer’s commitment, noting that Welch has consistently used her visibility to champion reproductive freedom—even sharing her own harrowing experiences with pregnancy loss. Spruch described Welch’s latest album, Everybody Scream, as a resonant call to action for bodily self-determination.
Following a brief hiatus, the tour resumes on Wednesday, April 8, at the Target Center in Minneapolis, which will also mark the official launch of the Planned Parenthood partnership. The tour supports Welch’s latest project, Everybody Scream, which debuted last October and reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200, marking her eighth appearance on the chart.
Welch’s dedication to the cause is deeply personal. Last year, she revealed that she underwent emergency surgery in 2023 following a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy that resulted in a miscarriage. Speaking with The Guardian, she reflected on the trauma, stating, “The closest I came to creating life was also the closest I came to death. It felt as though I had walked through a door into a room filled with the echoes of women’s screams.”
Welch is the latest in a growing list of high-profile artists standing in solidarity with the organization. She joins the ranks of Olivia Rodrigo—who famously donated tour proceeds to abortion funds via her Fund 4 Good—as well as Harry Styles, Megan Thee Stallion, Stevie Nicks, and Cyndi Lauper, all of whom have publicly advocated for protected access to reproductive healthcare amid increasing legislative restrictions.
