First Teaser for New Evangelion by Studio Khara and Yoko Taro Released Online

The legendary franchise is set to return to the screen in a high-profile collaboration with the creator of NieR: Automata.

A debut teaser for the upcoming Evangelion anime series has surfaced online. According to reports, the footage was first unveiled during a dedicated festival celebrating the franchise’s 30th anniversary before spreading across social media. As of now, an official high-definition version has yet to be released on YouTube or other mainstream platforms.

The teaser remains cryptic, revealing nothing about the narrative, timeline, or character roster. Instead, it focuses on establishing a haunting atmosphere, presenting vistas of a world in ruin accompanied by an orchestral score reminiscent of Keiichi Okabe’s work. Okabe, known for his iconic NieR soundtracks, has been confirmed as the composer for the new project. In its final moments, the video showcases a new Eva unit—visually similar to the classic Unit-01 but featuring a noticeable design evolution.

This new Evangelion chapter was formally announced on February 23 during the anniversary event. The project features an impressive creative lineup: Yoko Taro, the visionary behind the NieR series, is handling the script and series composition. Directing duties fall to Kazuya Tsurumaki and Toko Yatabe, both of whom were instrumental in the Rebuild of Evangelion film tetralogy. The series is being co-produced by Studio Khara and CloverWorks.

An official release window has not yet been disclosed.

The footage can currently be found on Twitter/X or Reddit.
