A24 has officially confirmed that Alex Garland’s highly anticipated cinematic adaptation of Elden Ring will premiere on March 3, 2028. The star-studded ensemble is led by Heartstopper breakout Kit Connor, alongside Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, and Tom Burke.
The expansive supporting cast features Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, Nick Offerman, and Peter Serafinowicz.
Drawing inspiration from the iconic dark fantasy masterwork developed by FromSoftware, the film has secured “Filmed for IMAX” certification. This designation ensures the production is optimized for the immersive large-format experience, though the project will utilize standard high-end cinema cameras rather than native IMAX hardware.
This news follows widespread industry speculation surrounding U.K. set construction and casting leaks, most of which have now proven accurate. According to A24, principal photography is scheduled to commence this spring.
The roster includes several recurring collaborators from Garland’s previous projects. Connor recently appeared in Warfare, while Spaeny previously starred in Garland’s series Devs and his film Civil War alongside Offerman. Mizuno, a Garland regular, also appeared in Devs and his directorial debut, Ex Machina.
Notably, Peter Serafinowicz serves as the sole bridge to the source material’s developers; he previously voiced the memorable character Pate in Dark Souls 2.
