Amazon Prime’s portfolio of video game adaptations is expanding at a rapid pace. Following the debut of a new Fallout episode and the announcement of the casting for Kratos in the live-action God of War series, we now have our inaugural look at Sophie Turner in her role as Lara Croft. Witness the transformation below.

This iteration of the character leans heavily into her classic roots, a notable departure from the rugged aesthetic of the recent “Survivor” game trilogy. Turner is seen sporting the iconic teal tank top, tactical shorts, and dual hip holsters. She even wears the signature red-lensed circular sunglasses that fans will recognize from the Tomb Raider III cover art. While Turner’s casting was initially met with some hesitation, her appearance in full gear is undeniably faithful to the source material. The true test will be how her performance captures the adventurer’s spirit.
The series is being developed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (the creative force behind Fleabag and Solo), who serves as both lead writer and showrunner. The high-profile cast features Martin Bobb-Semple, Sigourney Weaver, and Jason Isaacs—the latter being well-known to Baldur’s Gate 3 players as the voice of Gortash. Production is currently underway.
This pivot back to Lara’s traditional aesthetic coincides with a franchise-wide celebration of the series’ 30th anniversary in 2026. This landmark year will see the launch of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a modern remake of the debut title. Looking further ahead, 2027 will bring Tomb Raider: Catalyst, an entirely original adventure set in Northern India.
