First look at Netflix’s Narnia revealed
Empire magazine has exclusively unveiled the first official look at the upcoming fantasy epic, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, which is set to premiere on Netflix on April 2, 2027.
Directed and adapted by Greta Gerwig (Barbie) and based on C.S. Lewis’s classic novel, the film reimagines the origin story of the magical realm of Narnia. Departing from the original Victorian setting, the narrative unfolds in 1950s London.
The star-studded cast features Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, and Emma Mackey (pictured), who portrays the formidable White Witch, Jadis. Meryl Streep provides the voice for Aslan the Lion. In an interview with Empire, Gerwig revealed that the adaptation is deeply rooted in music, specifically citing the influence of rock and roll, with David Bowie and The Who serving as primary inspirations for the film’s aesthetic and tone.
While the initial Narnia film series was produced by Disney between 2005 and 2010, this new installment is scheduled to hit international theaters on February 12.
