Final Fantasy VII Remake’s third part will be exactly what fans want, promises head of development

Naoki Hamaguchi expresses confidence in the project.

Work on the third installment of the Final Fantasy VII remake is progressing in earnest, and the project’s game director, Naoki Hamaguchi, revealed new details in an interview with VGC. He is confident the trilogy’s finale will satisfy both longtime fans of the 1997 original and newcomers alike.

Hamaguchi emphasized that the third entry will deliver a “new gameplay experience” with a different emphasis than its predecessors: the first title was linear and story-driven, the second introduced an open world, and the finale will continue that evolution.

This will be something genuinely exciting — a brilliant experience, exactly as it should be. We’ll refine it and release it in the near future. You can eagerly anticipate the series’ climax — it will be precisely what you want. I am very confident in the game I am creating.
Naoki Hamaguchi, Game Director of Final Fantasy.
