Madonna’s latest anthem, “I Feel So Free,” has officially captured the top spot in this week’s fan-favorite music poll.
Following a poll launched this past Friday (April 18), Billboard readers have crowned the pop icon’s newest release as the standout track of the week. Facing stiff competition from a wave of fresh talent—including Olivia Rodrigo, Tyla featuring Zara Larsson, Lana Del Rey, and sombr—Madonna ultimately dominated the conversation. By the time voting closed on Sunday, “I Feel So Free” had secured a commanding 40% of the total vote.
The single made its debut on iHeartRadio’s Pride station on Friday, coinciding with its widespread digital streaming release. The track’s arrival was perfectly timed with a surprise guest appearance by the Queen of Pop during Sabrina Carpenter’s set at Coachella, where the duo electrified the crowd with iconic renditions of “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer.”
Lyrically, the song serves as a poignant ode to the sanctuary found on the dance floor. Madonna captures the anxiety of modern connection, singing, “It’s really hard for me to trust people / Can you blame me? / I never know what people like me / That’s why I like to go dancing / Safety in numbers.”
“I Feel So Free” acts as the lead single for Madonna’s highly anticipated studio album, Confessions II. Serving as a spiritual successor to her celebrated 2005 record Confessions on a Dance Floor, the new project is scheduled for a worldwide release on July 3 via Warner Records.
Rounding out the poll’s top performers, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drop Dead” captured 31% of the vote, while Tyla and Zara Larsson’s collaboration, “She Did It Again,” earned nearly 16%. Lana Del Rey’s “First Light” and sombr’s “Potential” completed the top five.
