Fan-Made Port Brings The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening Remake to Android
Another Nintendo exclusive has fallen victim to vibe coding. A developer who goes by Nycolazs has released an unofficial Android port of the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
The port is based on LAS Recomp, a fan project that previously brought the Nintendo Switch game to Windows, Linux and macOS.
The mobile version has touch controls that adapt to what is happening in the game. Buttons for the sword, shield and other items appear on screen when needed, and players can adjust their position and size.
The author tested the port on a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE with a Snapdragon 865 and reported a stable 60 FPS with 2x frame generation. Performance may be higher or lower on other devices. In the project’s Reddit thread, users also report crashes, graphical glitches and control problems.

Running the port requires Android 11 or newer, your own copy of Link’s Awakening for Nintendo Switch version 1.0.0, and the corresponding keys. The code compiles directly on the phone, and on the developer’s Galaxy S20 FE the process took about 11 minutes.
