Shrek 2 Remastered System Requirements Call for RTX 50 GPU, Players Mock Specs

The Steam page for DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered lists system requirements that make the remaster fairly demanding on PC. Players have questioned the specs.

Development of the game was officially confirmed recently. Aspyr Media is the studio behind the project.

The minimum requirements list the Radeon RX 7600, RX 6700 XT, GeForce RTX 4060, and RTX 3060 Ti.

For the recommended setup, the developers point to graphics cards at the level of the Radeon RX 7800 XT, RX 9070, GeForce RTX 4070, or RTX 5070. Both tiers call for 16 GB of RAM.

Players are now joking that “games are like onions.” The line refers to Shrek’s remark in the original animated film that ogres are more complex and deeper than they first appear, when he compared ogres to onions.

Participants in the discussion do not understand why the remaster needs so much memory. The authors advise using a GPU with 12 to 16 GB of VRAM. A user named West_Island_9777 argued that system requirements no longer mean anything, because “they are written by marketers, not engineers, and the marketers are probably using AI for it.” At release, the remaster may turn out not to need that many PC resources after all.

You can add DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered to your Steam wishlist on the game’s Steam page. The game is scheduled to release on November 10, 2026, and preorders are already open. The remaster will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and two generations of Nintendo Switch.
