Factory and automation game Factorio coming to Nintendo Switch 2

Owners of the original Switch edition will be eligible for a free upgrade.

Wube Software has announced Factorio — Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. A firm release date for Nintendo’s new console has not been confirmed, but the developers say they plan to launch it “as soon as possible”, with a provisional target of December.

The Nintendo Switch 2 edition will include:

  • Higher native resolution: the game will run at 1080p on the handheld display (up from 720p), while docked mode will support resolutions up to 2160p (4K).
  • Variable refresh rate (VRR) support for the console’s screen.
  • Refined animations and higher-resolution sprites.
  • Additional visual enhancements.
  • Faster loading times.
  • Support for building substantially larger bases.
  • Mouse input support.

The upgrade will be free for existing Factorio owners on Nintendo Switch; players who wish to support the developers can purchase the Space Age expansion.
