Expect to Wait ‘A Very Long Time’ for The Elder Scrolls 6, but Bethesda Is Working on a Fallout 3 Remaster, Says Todd Howard

The new The Elder Scrolls title is currently in pre-production.

Todd Howard, director of Bethesda Game Studios, confirmed in an interview with GQ that The Elder Scrolls 6 is “still a long way off” from release.

I preach patience. I don’t want fans to feel anxious. I prefer to announce a game and release it right away. My ideal scenario would be to wait a bit longer and then, one day, the game simply appears.
Todd Howard, head of Bethesda Game Studios.

When asked whether he’d try the surprise-release approach again for The Elder Scrolls 6 — similar to the recent remaster of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion — Howard smiled, calling that a “trial run” that “went very well.”

Meanwhile, the studio is heavily focused on the Fallout franchise. According to Howard, “hundreds of employees are working on Fallout — that’s Fallout 76 and a number of other projects.” VGC sources clarify that one of those “other projects” is a remaster of Fallout 3, similar to Oblivion: Remastered.
