Emma Frost from X-Men Cast in New Marvel Movie, According to Report
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding its mutant roster ahead of Marvel Studios’ anticipated X-Men franchise reboot. The latest addition to the evolving MCU lineup is none other than the iconic White Queen herself. According to a Deadline report, Marvel Studios and director Jake Schreier have officially cast Samara Weaving to bring the powerful telepath to life on the big screen.
Weaving is widely recognized for her standout performances in acclaimed genre thrillers such as The Babysitter, Ready or Not, and Scream—alongside her recent appearance on Polygon’s Shelf Quest series. Beyond horror, she has also showcased her dramatic range in critically acclaimed features including Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and Carolina Caroline.

Entitlement runs deep
While Marvel Studios has yet to issue an official casting announcement for the broader X-Men ensemble, rumor mills have circulated several high-profile names, including Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, Cailee Spaeny as Rogue, and Charles Melton as Beast. Enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating formal confirmations at next month’s D23 fan convention, where Disney is poised to unveil extensive details regarding its future slate.
First introduced to Marvel Comics lore in 1980 via The Uncanny X-Men #129, Emma Frost began her journey as a member of the villainous Hellfire Club. Over decades of storytelling, she has evolved from a formidable adversary into one of the mutant nation’s most pivotal leaders, wielding formidable telepathy alongside the unique ability to convert her physical form into pure, organic diamond.
This will not be Frost’s first venture into live-action adaptations; she was previously portrayed by January Jones in X-Men: First Class. Furthermore, the character has maintained a prominent presence across television animation, voiced by Tracey Moore in X-Men: The Animated Series and more recently by Zehra Fazal in X-Men ’97.
Interestingly, Weaving shares an established familial link to the cinematic universe: her uncle, Hugo Weaving, famously portrayed Johann Schmidt, also known as the Red Skull, in Captain America: The First Avenger, though he did not return for subsequent crossover events like Avengers: Infinity War.
As it stands, Marvel Studios has not yet designated a specific release window for its upcoming X-Men picture. The studio’s 2028 film calendar currently features three slots, two of which are claimed by Black Panther 3 and Ghost Rider. Ahead of those releases, audiences can look forward to Avengers: Doomsday arriving in December, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars in December 2027.
