Elle Fanning’s uncommon abilities sometimes allowed scenes to be filmed without CGI.
In the film “Predator: Planet of Death,” Elle Fanning portrays Weyland‑Yutani synthetics named Tia and Tessa. The actress says that some of her distinctive physical traits proved useful on set — for example, her double‑jointed elbows and the ability to keep her eyes open for extended periods without blinking.
“I’m actually double‑jointed in the elbows, and you can see it in a couple of scenes — I’m proud of that. Dan loved it. I can also hold my eyes open for a very long time without blinking, so in the moment where my character appears ‘switched off,’ it was done practically — that was me, not a computer.”
Dimitrius Schuster‑Coloamatangi, who plays the Predator known as Deck, recalls that when Fanning first demonstrated these “skills” to director Dan Trachtenberg, he was stunned — he thought she had just injured her arms.
Since Tia spends much of “Planet of Death” attached to Deck’s back, Fanning’s arm flexibility was more than an advantage — it was essential. According to Dimitrius Schuster‑Coloamatangi, those sequences are among the few moments in the film that were achieved without digital effects.
