A24 has officially confirmed that Alex Garland’s highly anticipated Elden Ring feature film is slated for a March 3, 2028, theatrical debut. The star-studded ensemble is led by Heartstopper breakout Kit Connor, alongside Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, and Tom Burke.
The expansive roster also features Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, Nick Offerman, and Peter Serafinowicz. The production, adapted from FromSoftware’s monumental dark fantasy title, has secured an “IMAX Certified” designation, ensuring it will be optimized for the premium format’s grand scale.
This confirmation follows a whirlwind of industry speculation regarding UK set construction and casting leaks, all of which have proven accurate. A24 has stated that principal photography is scheduled to commence this spring.
The cast reflects Garland’s penchant for recurring collaborators: Connor recently starred in the director’s Warfare, while Spaeny and Offerman both appeared in Civil War. Additionally, Spaeny and Mizuno were pivotal figures in Garland’s cerebral series Devs, with the latter also appearing in his directorial debut, Ex Machina. Notably, Peter Serafinowicz brings direct franchise experience to the project, having provided the voice for Pate in Dark Souls 2.
