Bandai Namco has officially confirmed that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28. This comprehensive release bundles the celebrated 2022 open-world action-RPG with its massive 2024 expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, marking a complete experience for Nintendo’s latest platform.
Beyond the core game and expansion, the Tarnished Edition introduces exclusive perks for Switch 2 players, including unique starting classes and a suite of cosmetic upgrades. These additions—which include stylish new armor sets and personalization options for the spectral steed, Torrent—will be available to players on other platforms as a separate paid purchase known as The Tarnished Pack DLC, though specific pricing details remain under wraps.
The journey to bring the Lands Between to the Switch 2 has been a patient one. Originally teased during Nintendo’s major console unveiling in April 2025—alongside high-profile ports like Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, and Street Fighter 6—the title was initially scheduled for a 2025 debut. Following a challenging presentation at Gamescom last year, developer FromSoftware opted to refine the port, pushing the launch into 2026. Recent demonstrations suggest these extra months of polish have paid off, resulting in a stable and faithful adaptation of the critically acclaimed title for the hybrid console.
Currently, Elden Ring remains available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, famously earning the title of Polygon’s Game of the Year in 2022.
