Ed Sheeran Visits England’s World Cup Camp: ‘Anyone Can Win, and I Think It’ll Be Us’

Ed Sheeran has once again brought his signature brand of support to the England squad as they advance through the 2026 World Cup, upholding a tradition he established back in 2021.

In an Instagram update posted this past Thursday (July 9), the acclaimed British singer-songwriter was spotted at the team’s training base in Kansas City, Missouri, sharing warm greetings and hugs with the players. Reflecting on his long-standing rapport with team captain Harry Kane, Sheeran shared, “It all started when Harry invited me to the camp in 2021. I met the whole group, and I’ve been a regular guest ever since. We’ve developed a real bond.”

The footage captures a candid moment of the artist performing an acoustic rendition of his Billboard Hot 100 smash, “Castle on the Hill,” for the attentive squad. Maintaining his unwavering support for the Three Lions, Sheeran expressed high hopes for their tournament run, even predicting that France would meet them in the final.

“Any team could take it home, but I firmly believe it will be us,” he remarked with confidence.

Looking ahead, England is slated to face Norway this Saturday. The tournament reaches its climax with the World Cup Final on July 19, an event set to make history with a curated halftime show featuring Coldplay’s Chris Martin, alongside an all-star lineup including Justin Bieber, BTS, Madonna, and Shakira.

Sheeran, who holds a minority stake in Ipswich Town, has cultivated a genuine history with the national team. His first performance for the players—which took place during a team meal in 2021—remains a highlight for the singer. As he told the BBC’s Crouchy’s Year-Late Euros at the time, “I’ve experienced many incredible moments in my career, but it’s hard to find many that top that.”
