Duran Duran paused their high-energy performance in Sacramento to deliver a poignant tribute to Renee Good, the 37-year-old woman who was fatally shot by ICE agents in Minnesota earlier this week. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees dedicated one of their most enduring ballads to her memory during their Friday night concert at the Thunder Valley Casino.

The emotional moment centered on a stirring rendition of the 1993 hit “Ordinary World,” a track from the band’s acclaimed self-titled release, widely known as the Wedding Album. Footage captured by fans and shared on social media shows the band honoring the victim amidst a somber atmosphere.

Before the music began, frontman Simon Le Bon addressed the audience with a message of global empathy. “We believe that people in this world have a right to live their lives in peace and lives of freedom and happiness in their own country,” Le Bon remarked. “For all the ordinary people in this world, we wish upon you an ordinary world.”

The tribute follows the tragic events of Wednesday, January 7, when Good was killed in her vehicle during an ICE operation. While the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, President Donald Trump, and Vice President JD Vance have maintained that officer Jonathan Ross acted in self-defense, the circumstances remain a flashpoint of controversy.

Video evidence from the scene suggests that Good was attempting to drive away from federal agents just moments before the shooting occurred. Despite DHS claims that she had attempted to strike an officer with her car, the incident has sparked widespread outrage and community vigils across Minneapolis.

In the wake of the fatality, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has taken a firm stand against the presence of federal tactical teams in the city. During a recent press briefing, Frey called for the immediate withdrawal of federal agents, describing the shooting as a “reckless use of power” that resulted in a preventable loss of life.
