“Doomsday” project gets digital release date

The science fiction film Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling, is set for its digital debut on May 12, according to data from WhenToStream.

Amazon MGM Studios, which handled the film’s theatrical distribution, has yet to officially confirm the news. The movie premiered in theaters this past March, ultimately grossing $639 million worldwide.

In the film, Gosling portrays a schoolteacher who is dispatched into deep space on a desperate mission to save the Sun, only to encounter an unexpected extraterrestrial ally. The story is adapted from the acclaimed novel by Andy Weir, the author behind The Martian.

The cast also features Sandra Hüller (The Zone of Interest), with directing duties helmed by the duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (21 Jump Street). Project Hail Mary has earned widespread critical acclaim, currently holding a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
