Donnie Yen Served as Creative Consultant on Phantom Blade Zero
The game will release on October 29 for PC and PS5.
The developers of Phantom Blade Zero at S-Game have revealed an unexpected detail about the game. A new extended trailer, published alongside the launch of pre-orders, reveals that the mysterious masked character is played by renowned Hong Kong actor and martial artist Donnie Yen (Ip Man, Ip Man 2, Ip Man 4, John Wick: Chapter 4).
In the game, Yen plays Mo Yuan, the father of the protagonist Soul. However, his involvement goes far beyond standard acting work. Since 2023, Donnie Yen has served as a creative consultant for S-Game, helping the team with fight scene staging and choreography.
The developers also thanked the actor and his stunt team for helping create authentic combat sequences. Yen’s connection to the project was previously only a matter of speculation, as S-Game appointed Kenji Tanigaki—who has worked in Donnie Yen’s team for about 30 years—as the action director back in 2023.
