Disney and ESPN announced today that they will partner with the NFL to stream Super Bowl LXI on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2027. The game will be available on Disney Plus, ESPN, and ABC as part of the first-ever ESPN-produced Super Bowl broadcast. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman will provide commentary with Lisa Salters and Laura Rutledge as sideline reporters.

Disney Plus will stream the Super Bowl in over 55 international markets. NFL games are held in countries such as Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, the U.K., and Mexico this year. Disney will stream the Super Bowl in several of those regions, including Australia and Brazil.

Does Disney Plus usually stream football?

Streamers have increasingly competed for sports broadcasting rights over the last few years. Disney Plus is entering the market with its first three football games streaming this year. In addition to the Super Bowl, Disney Plus secured two Monday Night Football games that will also air on ESPN and ABC.

The first matchup features the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 26. Both NFC East division rivals currently hold a 2-2 record. Disney Plus has not yet announced the second game.

Prime Video, Netflix, and Peacock have also streamed NFL games in recent years. Prime Video streams most Thursday Night Football games, Peacock carries numerous matchups including an exclusive Week 17 game, and Netflix holds five games such as the Christmas matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears.

Viewers often need multiple streaming subscriptions and cable packages to follow sports. Pundits and regular fans have expressed dissatisfaction with this fragmented landscape, though the Super Bowl remains accessible on traditional cable alongside Disney Plus.

Streaming services are projected by Ampere Analysis to spend $14.2 billion on sports rights in 2026, marking a 7% increase from the previous year. Prime Video accounts for 27% of that spending, Paramount Plus holds 8%, and Netflix represents 5%. Entertainment and sports fandom costs continue to rise, and Disney Plus raised its subscription prices.
