Is BTS Preparing a FIFA Anthem? J-Hope Sparks Rumors Ahead of World Cup Final

BTS devotees may have even more to celebrate regarding the upcoming 2026 World Cup. During a recent broadcast, J-Hope dropped a subtle hint suggesting the global superstars might be preparing an original track for FIFA, just in time for their highly anticipated co-headlining set at the tournament’s final.
While hosting a Weverse livestream this past Wednesday (July 8), the BTS star addressed a direct inquiry from the ARMY regarding a potential FIFA-themed release. After reading the question aloud, J-Hope offered nothing more than a playful, knowing smirk, fueling widespread speculation among fans.
“That smirk says it all—they’re definitely up to something,” one fan speculated on X, while others echoed the sentiment that the group is clearly cooking up a surprise.
The timing of the livestream coincides with FIFA’s official announcement that Justin Bieber will join the star-studded lineup for the World Cup Final Halftime Show. Alongside BTS, the performance will feature music icons Madonna and Shakira on July 19 at MetLife Stadium. Curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay, this marks a historic first for a World Cup final halftime event of this magnitude.
Beyond the spectacle, the event serves a noble cause, supporting FIFA’s Global Citizen Education Fund to improve access to both education and youth soccer globally. “The FIFA World Cup possesses a unique power to unite the globe,” Bieber shared in an official statement. “I’m honored to be part of this showcase and grateful for the impact it will have on children’s education worldwide.”
Though J-Hope remained coy regarding a new single—which would potentially join a soundtrack featuring artists like 21 Savage, Latto, and The Rolling Stones—he couldn’t hide his excitement for the upcoming performance. He also shared that his bandmate SUGA has been keeping the group updated on match scores, even during their busy pre-show rehearsals. “He keeps telling us, ‘Egypt is leading against Argentina!’ It’s absolutely wild,” J-Hope laughed.
As the countdown to the final continues, J-Hope revealed his current pick for the trophy: “I’ve been cheering for the Korean players, of course, but personally, I’m rooting for Team Norway this time around.”
BTS will take the stage at MetLife Stadium following their performances in support of their chart-topping album, ARIRANG, with additional shows scheduled at the same venue for August 1 and 2.
