Developers Reveal New Details About Star Wars: Zero Company

Developers will offer optional permanent soldier death, multiple difficulty levels, and a character relationship system that affects the story and combat.

Developers Bit Reactor and Lucasfilm Games shared details about key features of the game. One of these features will be optional permadeath: most heroes can die permanently, and the story will account for their deaths. The exceptions are tutorial missions and the main character, Hawks. His death will force players to restart the mission. The creators recommend playing with this mode enabled to make the campaign more emotional.

The game will feature multiple difficulty levels, ranging from story to expert. At the same time, the developers are focusing on tactics, a cinematic story, choices, and high replayability. Decisions made on the galactic map will affect missions, soldier relationships, and subsequent events.

Players can develop character relationships at the base. If relationships are poor, characters may even argue right during combat.

The developers do not hide their inspiration from XCOM and the Marvel’s Midnight Suns series, emphasizing that their goal was to create a game with its own distinct identity.

Star Wars: Zero Company will release on August 27, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Set during the Clone Wars, the game will tell a new story about the elite squad Zero Company.
