DC Revises Plans, Adds ‘Clayface’ Movie to James Gunn’s Cinematic Universe — Rumor
Originally conceived as a superhero body‑horror, the project was intended to be part of Matt Reeves’s epic Batman crime saga.
According to Nexus Point News, the film “Clayface,” which was originally planned as a standalone entry in Matt Reeves’s universe, will now be folded into the main DCU overseen by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
It had been suggested that Clayface might appear in Matt Reeves’s upcoming The Batman: Part II, but that possibility now appears significantly reduced. Still, integrating the character into the broader DCU could indicate James Gunn’s plans to deploy Clayface across other projects in the new DCU phase, dubbed “Gods and Monsters.”
The Clayface film is scheduled to premiere on September 11, 2026. Actor Max Minghella, who plays one of the principal roles, previously said the picture will not shy away from graphic bodily horror and is expected to be one of DC’s darkest R‑rated entries.
