Following a sensational performance at London’s Alexandra Palace on Thursday—where he surprised the crowd with an unreleased Harry Styles track—Fred again.. is set to deliver an even more monumental encore.
The electronic visionary announced that Thomas Bangalter, the legendary co-founder of Daft Punk, will join him as a special guest for his second and final night at the iconic venue this Friday (Feb. 27). Taking to Instagram Stories to share the news, Fred posted a photo alongside the French icon, expressing his disbelief: “I can’t believe I’m typing this. There is only one way to end this tour of surreal whirlwind dream casting, and it is with this man. The greatest.”
The collaboration isn’t just a simple cameo. Fred revealed that the two have been immersed in the studio all week, meticulously crafting a bespoke, one-night-only performance. “Me and Thomas Bangalter. One last dance,” he teased, noting that doors open at 6:00 PM.
This surprise finale marks the conclusion of Fred’s high-octane USB002 tour, which kicked off last autumn. The trek, titled “10 Weeks/10 Shows/10 Songs,” saw the producer dropping singles from his USB002 project on a weekly basis, often coinciding with pop-up performances announced at the eleventh hour.
While the London appearance is a massive milestone, it isn’t the first time the two have shared a stage recently. In October, they performed a historic back-to-back set at Paris’ Centre Pompidou alongside Erol Alkan and Ed Banger’s Busy P. That event was particularly significant as it marked Bangalter’s first public DJ set in sixteen years.
Reflecting on that night in Paris, Fred shared a poignant exchange they had in an elevator. “Thomas told me that the first time he fell in love with electronic music was in this building in 1992,” Fred recounted. “He also mentioned he hadn’t played a proper set without the mask on for 24 years. I didn’t know what to say to either of those things, and I still don’t.”
