Cyndi Lauper has officially arrived at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for a highly anticipated five-night residency, and she has made it clear that she intends to run the show entirely on her own terms.
During the opening night of the residency this past Friday (April 24), the pop icon was in the middle of introducing “Sally’s Pigeons”—a poignant track from her 1993 album Hat Full of Stars—when an audience member began shouting unintelligible remarks, disrupting her storytelling.
Ever the New Yorker, Lauper didn’t hesitate to address the heckler directly. In footage captured by fans and later shared by TMZ, she shot back: “I don’t know what the f— you’re saying, hun. But please remember where you are, OK? If you’re trying to throw shade, b—-, I’m gonna come for you. I’m from Brooklyn, and if I want to talk, I’ll even break into a tap dance if I feel like it.”
She quickly pivoted back to her set with a laugh, quipping, “Sorry, that clearly isn’t part of my professional repertoire.”
This Vegas engagement, which runs through May 2, marks a significant milestone in Lauper’s illustrious career as her first-ever residency. It offers fans a rare, intimate opportunity to see the star live following the conclusion of her global farewell tour last year.
Since her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2025, the Grammy, Emmy, and Tony winner has remained vocal about the enduring power of music. “I truly believe rock ‘n’ roll has the power to change the world,” Lauper told Billboard last year. “I want people to remember that we can make a difference if we stand together. We must unite, bring light to the world, and commit ourselves to doing the hard, good work.”
