Cyberpunk TCG Becomes Kickstarter’s Highest-Funded Game in History After Breaking All Records

Cyberpunk TCG shatters records as the most successful crowdfunding game ever

The signs of an impending juggernaut were unmistakable when the official Cyberpunk Trading Card Game amassed a staggering $8 million on Kickstarter within a mere 24 hours of its March 17 debut. By March 31, the project reached a historic milestone, officially becoming the most-funded game in the history of the platform. At the time of reporting, the campaign has surged to $15.4 million with over two weeks remaining, comfortably eclipsing the previous record held by Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere RPG, which garnered $15 million in August 2024.

Kickstarter solidified this achievement in a recent announcement, confirming that the Cyberpunk TCG now holds the title of the most-funded game across all crowdfunding history. Developed by WeirdCo—a studio spearheaded by Elliot Cook and Luohan Wei—the project obliterated its modest $100,000 goal in just seven minutes, a frenzy so intense it briefly crippled the site’s servers.

In a gesture of gratitude for this unprecedented momentum, WeirdCo announced that every backer, regardless of their pledge level, will receive a limited-edition foil “Nova Rare” V: Street Kid card.

“While we celebrate becoming the largest tabletop game in crowdfunding history, our game is a tribute to the legacy and future of the Cyberpunk universe,” Elliot Cook shared in a statement. “At WeirdCo, our priority is fostering genuine human connection and community. This triumph is a shared success with our supporters, CD Projekt Red, and Kickstarter.”

Speaking with media at PAX East 2026—shortly before the record was officially broken—Wei and Cook reflected on the overwhelming tidal wave of support. The duo admitted they were “honored” and genuinely surprised by the scale of the reception, though early indicators like their December hype trailer, which has surpassed 66,000 views, hinted at significant interest.

The campaign’s success is driven not just by volume, but by the deep commitment of its 21,484 backers. Data shows a remarkably high average pledge: over 4,200 fans opted for the $499 “Street Cred” tier, while nearly 9,000 supporters chose the $349 “Netrunner Starter Kit.” Most impressively, 700 elite backers committed $7,999 each for the “Night City Legend” bundles, which feature exclusive serialized metal cards depicting iconic figures like Adam Smasher and David Martinez.

“There is a profound poeticism in seeing Cyberpunk return to its tabletop origins with such explosive enthusiasm,” noted Asher McClennahan, Kickstarter’s head of games. “For a franchise with this much cultural weight, the response illustrates a deep hunger for fans to engage with this world through new mediums.”

With more than 16 days left on the clock, the final ceiling for the Cyberpunk TCG remains to be seen, as it continues to redefine the boundaries of tabletop crowdfunding.
