CD Projekt Red and WeirdCo have ignited a genuine phenomenon with the Kickstarter debut of The Official Cyberpunk Trading Card Game. Launching on a recent Tuesday at noon, the project obliterated its $100,000 funding target in a staggering five minutes.
The momentum showed no signs of slowing; within hours, the campaign was officially crowned the most-funded trading card game in Kickstarter history. As of now, the initiative has secured over $8.3 million from a dedicated base of more than 10,000 backers—with 30 days of the campaign still remaining. Nearly every planned stretch goal has been decimated, and the ultimate $10 million tier is expected to fall within the coming days.
“Hey chooms, we did it,” the WeirdCo team shared in an enthusiastic update once the project reached its initial milestone.
As the pledges surged, the developers found themselves in a race to announce new incentives. “You gonks are crazy. We already broke our $3 million stretch goal!” the team posted less than an hour after the launch. “You’re blowing past these goals before we can even release them.” Indeed, the campaign surged past the $5 million mark in under three hours.
“The response has been nothing short of amazing,” WeirdCo co-founder and president Elliot Cook noted. He emphasized that becoming the top-funded TCG in crowdfunding history in less than 12 hours serves as a massive signal that fans are eager for this collaboration. Cook described CD Projekt Red as a “dream partner,” noting that their representatives were on-site in Seattle to help push the campaign live.
“With overwhelming momentum from fans and local game stores alike, the Cyberpunk TCG isn’t just launching; we are initiating a game that fosters genuine human connection,” Cook added.
The majority of the campaign’s stretch goals focus on refining the game’s “beta box.” Early milestones added supplementary booster packs and a promotional “Legend” card featuring the V: Corporate Exile variant. As the funding climbed, the card pool expanded to include iconic characters from the Cyberpunk 2077 video game and the Edgerunners animated series. Upon hitting $4 million, all booster packs were upgraded to guarantee at least two rare cards. Should the campaign reach the $10 million mark, every beta box will be supplemented with a bonus Legend pack.
Backers can expect their rewards in two distinct phases. The first wave, arriving in Q3 2026, will feature starter decks and beta booster displays via express shipping. A second wave in Q4 2026 will deliver the remaining products through standard shipping channels.
Originally teased in late 2025, the Cyberpunk TCG translates the high-tech, low-life world of Night City into a competitive tabletop experience. Players focus on recruiting a crew, optimizing gear, and successfully executing dangerous gigs.
With a full month left on the clock, the Cyberpunk TCG isn’t just shattering records—it is redefining the ceiling for what a tabletop game can achieve through community support.
