Reviews for the third installment of the “Tron” franchise have surfaced online. The film, subtitled “Ares”, is fronted by Jared Leto.
At the time the piece was published, the movie held a 55% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 50 out of 100 on Metacritic. Western critics praise the film’s visual achievements but criticize its lack of emotional depth and its screenplay. The soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails earned particular acclaim.
In “Ares,” Leto portrays an artificial intelligence bent on subjugating the world. The supporting cast includes Gillian Anderson, Evan Peters, Greta Lee, and others. The film was directed by Joachim Rønning (known for “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”).
The film is slated to open in international cinemas this week.
