Critical Role has finally returned to the magically volatile and deity-starved realm of Aramán. This week’s broadcast reunited viewers with the Soldiers table, picking up the pieces after the visceral chaos of episode 10, “Blood for Blood.”

When we last saw the squad, they had successfully infiltrated Castle Delawney in Gormolay. Their objective: rescue Cyd, the long-lost brother of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham). The mission turned into a frantic skirmish when House Tachonis’ forces intercepted them. Though the Soldiers emerged victorious, the victory was hard-won and narrow.

Following a lengthy holiday hiatus, the narrative resumed with an installment defined by grief and intricate political maneuvering. Within the first twenty minutes, Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan addressed the burning question on every fan’s mind: which adventuring party would take the reins next, and how soon?

Campaign 4’s unique structure was established early on. Following a five-episode prologue that introduced the ensemble cast and the complex lore of this new world, the story was set to rotate between three distinct groups: the Soldiers, the Seekers, and the Schemers. After an extended intro that lasted nearly six episodes, the focus locked onto the Soldiers as they sought retribution for Thjazi Fang and hunted for the treacherous Casimir.

With the conclusion of Episode 11, the Soldiers’ arc has transitioned into the rearview mirror. Mulligan confirmed that the spotlight will now pivot to the second group: The Seekers.

The transition was seamless, as Episode 11’s cold open provided a glimpse into their current status. The group—comprising Sir Julian Davinos (Matthew Mercer), Vaelus (Ashley Johnson), Thaisha Lloy (Aabria Iyengar), and Occtis Tachonis (Alexander Ward)—is currently three days outside of Dol-Makjar. They are navigating the Dvalmar Pass, bound for the ancestral territories of the Obridimian Empire. Their goal is to uncover the true motivations of House Tachonis, whose recent decimation of the Royce and Davinos bloodlines suggests a dark agenda.

The Seekers have been characterized as a party driven by intellectual curiosity, focusing on “unearthing ancient lore, exploring cosmology, and investigating the mysteries of divinity and the arcane through a classic fantasy lens.”

In essence, while the Soldiers specialized in the grit and blood of tactical combat, the Seekers represent the scholars of the group. Fans should prepare for deep world-building, extensive note-taking, and major revelations regarding the foundational secrets of Aramán.

Campaign 4 is available to stream live every Thursday night at 7 p.m. PDT / 10 p.m. EDT on Twitch, YouTube, and Beacon.tv. VODs are officially released on YouTube the following Monday at 12 p.m. PDT / 3 p.m. EDT.
