Crimson Desert’s Massive New Update: Official Patch Notes Released

Pearl Abyss has just dropped update 1.06 for Crimson Desert, introducing a substantial array of fresh content, stability improvements, and quality-of-life enhancements. Arriving shortly after the previous patch, this update packs a few noteworthy additions.

Among the highlights is a new claw machine mini-game located at the Laughing Marionette. Players can test their luck to snag various rewards, including an assortment of lighting fixtures, unique furniture, specialized headgear, Abyss Artifacts, and Abyss Gears. Furthermore, the game’s creature roster has expanded; players can now tame and mount a wider variety of wildlife, such as wolves, bears, warthogs, camels, kuku birds, lions, tigers, and even iguanas.

This update also introduces a long-awaited extraction feature, allowing players to recover materials previously invested in equipment refinement. This addition should significantly streamline the process of upgrading gear. Since the mid-March launch of Crimson Desert, Pearl Abyss has maintained an aggressive update schedule. Patch 1.06 is live now across all platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC. You can review the exhaustive list of changes below.

Crimson Desert Patch Notes: Version 1.06.00

New Features & Additions

  • Expanded Special Mount System
    • Many wild animals can now be tamed and registered as special mounts.
    • Eligible Species: Bears, Boars, Wolves, Deer, Mountain Goats, Kuku Birds, Iguanas, Raptors, Camels, Lions, and Tigers.
    • Taming Mechanics: Ferocious beasts require subduing and feeding; others may require specialized methods. Note that feeding animals that cannot be tamed will yield no increase in trust.
    • You can now feed mounts directly while riding by selecting food from your inventory.
    • A dedicated “Special Mounts” tab has been added to the inventory UI, and mount quickslots have been limited to one standard and one special mount.
    • Saddle Customization: Default saddles are removed, allowing you to equip custom saddles purchased from various regional saddleries (e.g., Hernand for Wolves/Bears, Tommaso for Iguanas, etc.).
  • Equipment Extraction
    • A new extraction option allows you to partially recover refinement materials at any local smithy.
    • Extraction does not destroy the item; it simply reverts the equipment’s refinement level—either by a single step or back to its base state—and refunds a portion of the materials.
    • Recovery Rates: Rare materials like Artifacts and Aeserion’s scale are fully recovered (100%), while common ores and bloodstones are recovered at roughly 70%.
  • Combat & Customization
    • Oongka: New unarmed combat skills added (accessible via the “Fists” option in the skill menu).
    • Sword Sheaths: Players can now toggle the visibility of their character’s weapon sheath.
    • Sigil of Valor: A new item available from the Pororin Secret Shop that enables pet dogs to join in combat.
    • Claw Machine: Added to the Laughing Marionette, offering lighting items, furniture, unique headgear, and Abyss gear/artifacts.
