Crimson Desert is set to dazzle more than just the PC crowd; Pearl Abyss is fully harnessing the specialized hardware of the PS5 Pro.
Fresh gameplay footage and technical insights have surfaced, providing a clearer picture of what to expect from the South Korean studio’s latest endeavor. While much of the spotlight has been on the PC build, console enthusiasts—specifically those within the Sony ecosystem—are in for a feature-rich experience.
The PlayStation Blog recently confirmed that the title is engineered to exploit the capabilities of both PS5 iterations, with the base model serving as the foundation for optimization. Developers are utilizing the high-speed SSD for seamless asset streaming across a massive open world, ensuring crisp visuals even at extreme draw distances. To achieve this, they’ve implemented advanced rendering techniques like Geometry Shader Oversubscription and NGG Culling, allowing for dense, detailed environments without sacrificing performance.
However, the game’s true technical zenith will be found on the PS5 Pro. By leveraging the Pro’s enhanced CPU frequency, the game will offer two distinct graphical profiles: a native 4K output targeting 40 FPS, or a fluid 60 FPS mode at a slightly lower base resolution.
Furthermore, support for the updated PSSR technology has been verified. This sophisticated AI-driven upscaler enables Crimson Desert to maintain 4K-quality imagery at higher frame rates while simultaneously running ray-traced effects, resulting in significantly more lifelike lighting and reflections.
Immersion will be further heightened through dedicated support for the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
