Just last month information has appeared that the streaming giant Netflix was trying to add something from the Grand Theft Auto series to its catalog, but then there was little clarity. There was talk about simply adding games to the library, and even about developing something new within the franchise, which seems completely unrealistic. But today, first thanks to The Vergeand then official statement everything fell into place.
On December 14 (although the App Store lists the 15th, perhaps due to the time difference with America), the mobile version will become available to Netflix subscribers GTA: Trilogy – Definitive Edition, which includes re-releases of three games. Access will be provided in the proprietary application and directly through downloading from the App Store and Google Play. The corresponding pages have already appeared there:
- GTA 3 – Definitive Edition on the App Store,
- GTA 3 – Definitive Edition on Google Play,
- GTA: Vice City – Definitive Edition on the App Store,
- GTA: Vice City – Definitive Edition on Google Play,
- GTA: San Andreas – Definitive Edition on the App Store,
- GTA: San Andreas – Definitive Edition on Google Play.
This means that the Trilogy re-release will finally be released on mobile devices, two years after release. However, it is not yet known whether the collection will be distributed beyond this prepayment. Will absolutely everyone be able to buy it for money? It is possible that this will happen a little later, and Netflix has the right of temporary exclusivity. And that’s why. The information indicates that the “creator” is Rockstar Games, although we know very well that the main office is the publisher, and the authors of the originals are employees of Rockstar North. But they don’t do mobile ports, Grove Street Games do out of work for at least a year. Netflix, Inc. is listed as a developer in the App Store, and this may well be so, because they have their own Netflix Games Studio, which could take over the transfer of the long-suffering project. It’s clearly been a headache for Take-Two for years, and Netflix seems desperate to get Grand Theft Auto.
It is worth noting that not all owners of Apple technology will be able to run games on their devices. The oldest ones they will work on are the iPhone XS and iPad Pro. The device must have iOS 16.0 or later and the A12 Bionic chip.
Now let’s take a look at the screenshots taken on these very iPhones and iPads. Users note some improvements, for example, in lighting, tone selection and the appearance of a normal map visibility range.
