In December, it was revealed that Travis Scott would carry out on the Super Bowl LIII halftime present alongside Maroon 5. Scott’s determination was controversial, given many artists’ boycott of the show in help of former quarterback and political activist Colin Kaepernick, who has been blacklisted from the league because of his peaceable protests of police violence towards folks of coloration. (He is currently suing the NFL.)
Earlier this week, Scott revealed in a statement that he partnered with the NFL to make a $500,000 donation to the social justice-advocacy group Dream Corps, writing, “I am proud to support Dream Corps and the work they do that will hopefully inspire and promote change.” Yesterday, Variety printed a report that Scott had a dialog with Kaepernick concerning the halftime efficiency and that whereas the 2 didn’t see eye-to-eye, they “emerged from the conversation with mutual respect and understanding.”
Now, Kaepernick has denounced that report, retweeting activist and radio character Nessa (who can also be his companion), who wrote, “There is NO mutual respect and there is NO understanding for anyone working against Kaepernick PERIOD. #stoplying”. He additionally retweeted Ebro Darden “Kap did not approve this bullshit! Get the fuck outta here….,” and extra. Find the tweets that he retweeted under.
