Cody Johnson Performs ‘On Bended Knee’ With Boyz II Men at Stagecoach 2026

Cody Johnson infused his Stagecoach headlining set with a touch of soulful nostalgia this year.

During his Friday night performance (April 24), the 38-year-old country powerhouse surprised the Indio, California, audience by welcoming R&B icons Boyz II Men to the stage. Together, they delivered a heartfelt rendition of the vocal group’s timeless 1994 chart-topper, “On Bended Knee.”

Johnson kicked off the performance solo before the trio—Nathan Morris, Wanyá Morris, and Shawn Stockman—stepped in to elevate the ballad. The collaboration resonated deeply with the crowd, as festival-goers swayed along to the beloved anthem, which famously spent six weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100.

This appearance marks another notable genre-blending moment for Boyz II Men. The Philadelphia legends recently made a surprise cameo at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium in March, where they joined Brett Young for a performance of “In Case You Didn’t Know” to celebrate the venue’s 20th anniversary.

For Johnson, the Stagecoach milestone follows the reveal of his upcoming studio album, Banks of the Trinity, scheduled for a June 26 release via COJO Music/Warner Records Nashville. The new project arrives on the heels of his highly acclaimed 2023 record, Leather, which earned Album of the Year honors at the 2024 CMA Awards.

The Friday festivities also featured an unexpected duet from rising artist Ella Langley, who invited comedian Theo Von onstage for a rendition of her collaboration with Riley Green, “You Look Like You Love Me.”

Stagecoach 2026 continues its momentum through the weekend, with Lainey Wilson headlining Saturday’s slate, followed by a grand finale from Post Malone on Sunday.
