Chris Avellone Opposed a Fallout: New Vegas Remaster — His Concerns Are Understandable

Not everyone is keen on an FNV remaster.

The Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition launched recently, which has once again sparked conversation about a remaster of another title in the franchise.

Fans of Fallout: New Vegas have renewed calls for Obsidian Entertainment to release an updated version of the game, but the idea has its detractors. One of them is the game’s writer.

Chris Avellone shared his thoughts on social media: “[…] perhaps a Fallout: New Vegas remaster might not be such a good idea.” He attributed his reservations to “recent events.”

The creator did not elaborate on his remark. He might have been referring to the troubled Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition release (which experienced technical issues and drew criticism over Creation Club’s premium mods), or to Obsidian’s recent titles — the community has also raised concerns about the quality of Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2.

It is presumed Avellone is wary of potential issues that could arise if the modern Obsidian were to tackle a Fallout: New Vegas remaster.
