Charli XCX Releases Pop-Punk B-Side ‘Playboy Bunny’ Alongside ‘SS26’

Charli xcx Unveils “Playboy Bunny,” the Gritty B-Side to Her Latest Single “SS26”

Hot on the heels of dropping her latest anthem, “SS26,” Charli xcx is pulling back the curtain further on her current creative era. The 33-year-old visionary shared a brand-new pop-punk offering titled “Playboy Bunny” this past Saturday (May 23), serving as the B-side to her earlier release.

Giving fans an intimate look into her process, Charli noted on her “b.sides” Instagram, “Captured this the day after filming the ‘SS26’ video. To be completely honest, I was incredibly hungover.”

The aesthetic for “Playboy Bunny” is raw and minimalist, captured in stark black-and-white. The footage features the pop icon wandering through Paris, posing before the Eiffel Tower, and navigating bustling city streets, all while sporting a sharp white jacket and effortless ponytail.

Lyrically, the track leans into a punchy, guitar-driven sound. “All my music sounds the same / Well, that’s because I made it,” she declares with signature confidence. “Write a song like the Playboy Bunny.”

While the video is currently an Instagram exclusive, the song will see a wider release via a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl paired with “SS26.” Addressing the deliberate pairing, Charli explained, “These two tracks were crafted as opposites. They function as a mirror—sonically, they diverge significantly from ‘SS26,’ which is exactly why they make such a compelling duo.”

The avant-garde pop star hinted that while these B-sides are currently staying off major streaming platforms, she isn’t ruling out a broader digital release down the road.

This follows a string of experimental releases, including the early May arrival of “I Keep On Thinking Bout You Every Single Day and Night,” which accompanied her “Rock Music” vinyl. Since her monumental Brat era, Charli has been vocal about her evolution, noting on “Rock Music” that she feels the traditional dance floor has run its course, shifting her sights toward a grittier, rock-influenced landscape for her upcoming, yet-to-be-titled seventh studio album.
