Family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez Speaks Out Following Murder Charges Against D4vd

The relatives of Celeste Rivas Hernandez—the 14-year-old girl whose remains were discovered in a seized Tesla belonging to singer D4vd last year—have issued their first public statement following the formal murder charges filed against the artist.
In a collective statement released to media outlets including CBS News and ABC, the family expressed gratitude toward the Los Angeles Police Department and the District Attorney’s office for their diligent investigation, while also acknowledging the ongoing support from the Lake Elsinore community.
“Celeste was a vibrant, resilient girl who found joy in singing and dancing,” the family shared. “She cherished our Friday movie nights, and she never hesitated to express her love for us. We miss her profoundly, and our only hope is that she receives the justice she deserves.”
D4vd, legally identified as David Anthony Burke, was taken into custody on April 16. Authorities subsequently charged him with first-degree murder, the continuous sexual exploitation of a minor, and the mutilation of a human corpse. Prosecutors allege that the artist killed the teenager to conceal his criminal activity involving her.
“The defendant allegedly murdered her, dismembered her remains, and concealed them within the trunk of his vehicle,” stated L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman. “This heinous act by a self-described predator is truly monstrous. We are fully committed to securing justice for Celeste’s family.”
During his arraignment on April 20, Burke entered a plea of not guilty. His defense attorney, Blair Berk, stated, “We maintain that the evidence will ultimately demonstrate that David Burke is not responsible for the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.”
The investigation began after a foul odor prompted a search of an impounded Tesla at a Hollywood tow lot on September 8, 2025. Following the identification of the remains, officials noted that Burke had been cooperating with the inquiry at the time. Prosecutors further allege that the murder occurred on April 23, 2025—a mere two days before the artist launched his debut studio album, Withered. According to the District Attorney, Rivas visited Burke’s Hollywood Hills residence that day and was never seen again.
