CBS Announces New NCIS Spin-Off Premiering Next Month

For over two decades, the NCIS franchise has anchored network television. The series evolved from a backdoor pilot into an international procedural juggernaut with shows in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Hawaii, and Sydney. The CBS powerhouse now brings its formula to Manhattan.

Premiering on October 6, 2026, NCIS: New York expands the long-running franchise into the concrete jungle of New York City. CBS anchors the new field office with familiar faces.

LL Cool J returns as Special Agent Osama “Sam” Hanna after a 14-season run on NCIS: Los Angeles. Hanna leaves the West Coast for his hometown roots alongside television veteran Scott Caan, who plays NCIS Special Agent Nick Schaeffer. The pair lead a fresh squad of agents.

What is NCIS: New York about?

The spin-off centers on Sam Hanna after his return to New York. He teams up with Nick Schaeffer to lead a task force investigating high-stakes crimes connected to the Navy and Marine Corps.

Nick Schaeffer acts as Hanna’s primary partner. The rest of the team includes Jennifer Beals as Assistant Special Agent in Charge Robyn Wells, Jacqueline Byers as Special Agent Addison “Addy” Ross, Shane Harper as Special Agent Wyatt Sellers, and Devin Druid as tech specialist Sean Sullivan.

The premiere features a personal catalyst when Hanna’s close friend and Navy reservist Jack Holloway turns up dead. Hanna steps in to lead the investigation.

Sam Hanna previously shared the spotlight on NCIS: Los Angeles with G. Callen played by Chris O’Donnell, Kensi Blye played by Daniela Ruah, Marty Deeks played by Eric Christian Olsen, and Hetty Lange played by Linda Hunt.

When is the NCIS: New York release date?

NCIS: New York premieres Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. New episodes air every Tuesday.

On Tuesdays, the original NCIS airs at 8 p.m., followed by NCIS: New York at 9 p.m., and NCIS: Origins at 10 p.m.
