While many are spending Thanksgiving relaxing with family and a table full of trimmings, Bunnie XO spent the holiday focused on something far more urgent: helping survivors of domestic violence reclaim a sense of safety and dignity.
The podcaster and author coordinated a Thanksgiving meal distribution and assembled care packages for women living in transitional housing at the Mary Parrish Center, supporting those who are working to rebuild their lives after abuse. The center provides essential services for people seeking a fresh start.
“Thanksgiving is about giving back. And that’s exactly what we’re doing today,” Bunnie told Extra, explaining why the outreach feels personal and necessary.
She has been candid about her own history with an abusive relationship between 2013 and 2016, and says that experience drives her commitment to assist women and children in similar circumstances.
Now married to country artist Jelly Roll, Bunnie has also chronicled her journey in her memoir, Stripped Down, and has used her platform to raise awareness about the realities of domestic abuse.
Shortly before the holiday she posted a striking photo showing a bruised eye—an image she says was meant to reassure other survivors that someone who understands their pain exists and to offer encouragement. She told followers she wants them to keep moving forward — “Don’t ever look back. Smash the rearview mirror.”
In addition to her outreach, Bunnie recently spoke openly about a separate legal issue involving years of driving with a suspended license. She said she is working with counsel and quipped that if she has to surrender herself she’ll do it in style — and likely document the experience for her podcast audience.
