ARMY, take a breath—the moment you’ve been anticipating has finally arrived. After years of speculation and yearning, BTS has officially unveiled their latest masterpiece, ARIRANG. This release signifies the monumental comeback of the global icons, ending a lengthy hiatus from group studio projects.
The 14-track collection features a stellar lineup of collaborators, including Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, Diplo, Ryan Tedder, and Mike WiLL Made-It. Released this Friday (March 20), the album presents RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook through a lens of artistic maturity and sophisticated production. Eschewing the traditional single-release strategy, the septet opted for a comprehensive drop, unleashing the entire tracklist—including “Body to Body,” “Hooligan,” “Aliens,” “FYA,” “2.0,” “No. 29,” “SWIM,” “Merry Go Round,” “NORMAL,” “Like Animals,” “they don’t know ’bout us,” “One More Night,” “Please,” and “Into the Sun”—simultaneously.
It has been a long journey since their 2020 full-length project, Be, which debuted at the summit of the Billboard 200. Following their historic string of Hot 100 leaders like “Dynamite” and “Butter,” the group paused their collective journey to fulfill mandatory military service in South Korea, during which time the members explored individual creative paths through solo releases.
Almost immediately after the final members were discharged, the band reconvened in the studio to begin work. Speaking with GQ prior to the launch, Suga teased that the record would span a vast array of musical styles, while group leader RM described the project as a comprehensive “whole package” that defines their current era.
BigHit Music later shed light on the title’s significance, explaining that ARIRANG is named after a legendary Korean folk song. The label noted that the name symbolizes “connection, distance, and reunion,” describing the album as a deeply reflective body of work that explores the band’s heritage and their evolution as global artists.
The celebration is only just beginning. BTS is set to host a massive comeback concert at Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square this Saturday (March 21). Following the domestic launch, they will travel to New York City for a Spotify-exclusive fan experience and back-to-back appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. A worldwide stadium tour is scheduled to commence this April.
