Chappell Roan and Lola Young kept their conversation private during Paris Fashion Week this spring.

Roan took precautions to ensure no one could read their lips while they sat side by side at Vivienne Westwood’s fashion show, according to Young. “She did this thing where she covered her lips and mine to make sure no one was clocking what we were talking about,” the British pop singer told British Vogue in a cover story published Thursday (Oct. 15).

“And I was like, ‘Yeah, as you f–king should, b—h,'” Young added regarding Roan. “Don’t let them post us.”

As two breakout stars over the last two years, both Island Records signees have dealt with public scrutiny and surveillance. Both have also discussed how that impacted them, with the “Good Luck, Babe!” singer making headlines in 2024 for calling out predatory fan behavior and setting firm boundaries between herself and strangers.

Meanwhile, Young dealt with addiction and mental health issues, which led to her stepping away from music to recover after collapsing on stage at All Things Go in 2025.

“A lot of things were going on for me personally,” Young, who recently announced her 2027 North American Tour, told the publication. “I was working but I also was self-sabotaging and that is not a good combination … Recovery isn’t linear. It’s a nonstop journey.”

She also provided an update on her love life following her revelation at Rosalia’s concert in London in May. “I’m seeing various people. I’m shagging,” she said, adding that she refuses to use dating apps. “I don’t want to do swipe left, swipe right. I just want to meet you and then, if you’re s–t, you can go in the bin.”
