The unofficial PC version of Bloodborne is reaching new heights thanks to the “Shadows of the Hunt” overhaul.

Developer fromsoftserve recently debuted a massive update for the Bloodborne PC Remaster mod. This milestone brings a significant shift in direction, including a complete rebranding of the project to “Shadows of the Hunt.”

Key enhancements and new features include:

  • Implementation of dynamic shadow rendering alongside a significantly expanded shadow draw distance.
  • Introduction of point light sources for environmental objects such as street lamps, wall sconces, candles, and torches that previously lacked real-time illumination.
  • Integration of Parallax Occlusion Mapping (POM) across various surfaces to enhance environmental depth. This feature is currently in an “active development” phase and will be refined in future iterations.

The modder noted that several locations will feature revised color grading compared to the vanilla experience:

“FromSoftware developed several alternative color grading profiles for every map. I’m selecting the ones I find most visually compelling, though I will retain the original look in specific areas. Expect a world that is more vibrant and luminous.”

In addition to visual effects, the update replaces the low-resolution “LOD” models used for distant vistas in Central Yharnam and the Cathedral Ward with full-fidelity assets, ensuring a more consistent level of detail across the environment.

The Shadows of the Hunt modification is currently available as a free download through Nexus Mods.
