Beyond Good & Evil 2 Still in Pre-Production 18 Years After Its Announcement
Full-scale production is still a long way off.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 fans may need to be patient. According to a new report from the French outlet Origami, the sequel remains in development, but full production has not started. Origami says it got the information from conversations with several people familiar with the game’s development. Insider Gaming confirms some of the details.
In January 2026, the director of Beyond Good & Evil 2 again said that no changes had affected the project in a way that could put it at risk. A writer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows later confirmed that development is continuing.

Origami reports that the game is still in the preproduction phase. At Ubisoft Montpellier alone, at least 250 people are working on the project.
The report adds that the team is aiming to get the game ready for an alpha stage. Its main near-term goal is to pass an internal approval stage, which would allow the project to move into full production.
Development of Beyond Good & Evil 2 has been underway since 2008.
