Beyoncé to Co‑Chair 2026 Met Gala With Sabrina Carpenter, LISA and Doja Cat on Hosting Committee

Beyoncé to Co-Chair the 2026 Met Gala Alongside Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams

Beyoncé has a way of making high fashion look effortless — whether she’s in a crisp white tee and Levi’s or a full couture gown. That effortless authority is part of why she’s been tapped to co-chair next year’s Met Gala; no doubt she’ll wear something extraordinary when the event arrives in 2026.

On December 10, Vogue announced via an Instagram video, set to Claude Debussy’s “Clair de Lune,” that the 2026 Met Gala will be co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams. The accompanying visual — a white curtain drifting across a marble backdrop — also revealed the Met Costume Institute’s spring exhibition and the Gala theme: “Costume Art.”

Leadership for the event will include Anthony Vaccarello and Zoë Kravitz as heads of the Host Committee. The committee’s roster, as published, features a diverse group of figures from fashion, entertainment and sports, including:

  • Sabrina Carpenter
  • LISA (BLACKPINK)
  • Doja Cat
  • Gwendoline Christie
  • Alex Consani
  • Misty Copeland
  • Elizabeth Debicki
  • Lena Dunham
  • Paloma Elsesser
  • Chloe Malle
  • Sam Smith
  • Teyana Taylor
  • Lauren Wasser
  • Anna Weyant
  • A’ja Wilson
  • Yseult

The “Costume Art” exhibition — which traditionally opens at The Metropolitan Museum of Art to coincide with the Gala — will examine the interplay between garments and the body. According to the exhibition notes, it will present a series of thematic body types, from the Naked Body and the Pregnant Body to the Aging Body, offering a curatorial exploration of how clothing shapes and is shaped by the human form.

For Beyoncé’s many admirers, the announcement is especially notable: the superstar has not walked the Met steps since 2016. That year she honored the “Manus x Machina” theme in a beaded peach Givenchy Haute Couture gown. In 2015 she delivered a dazzling, sheer, bejeweled look for the “China: Through the Looking Glass” theme; in 2014 she appeared in an elegant black design with netting over her eyes for “Charles James: Beyond Fashion”; and in 2013 she stunned in a black-and-gold ensemble with matching boots for “Punk: Chaos to Couture.”
