Bethesda Releases Working 0 Pip-Boy After 17 Years

Bethesda Releases Working $300 Pip-Boy After 17 Years

After a 17-year wait, Bethesda appears to have corrected the misstep of Fallout 3’s disappointing collector’s edition by releasing a “fully functional” Pip-Boy replica priced at $299.99. The device works and can be worn on the wrist.

It’s presented as the first “accurate, wearable, and fully operational 1:1 replica of the Pip-Boy 3000,” matching the versions seen in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.

Bethesda pursued the concept for many years. In 2008, the Fallout 3 collector’s edition shipped with a Pip-Boy that acted more like a digital desktop clock than a true wearable and quickly drained its batteries.

The market for Fallout collectibles plunged after the widely criticized Fallout 76 collector’s edition, but the dream of a proper Pip-Boy endured: The Wand Company first offered a modular kit to build your own Fallout 76 Pip-Boy, and later a $200 replica similar to the prop used in the TV series appeared.

The new release rivals the television prop in functionality and build quality, while its aesthetic is faithful to the in-game design.
