Renowned fantasy novelist Brandon Sanderson has revealed that he is taking the initial steps toward a potential AAA video game set in his Mistborn universe, though a formal agreement has yet to be finalized.
Writing on his blog, the author shared:
“The gaming industry has begun to show legitimate interest in the project, and I feel that we finally have a real opportunity to bring a Mistborn game to life.”
He mentioned that preliminary discussions are currently ongoing with several major development studios:
“This is just the first step, but it is an encouraging one. For the last 6–7 years, the gaming rights were tied up with film deals, so we were only recently able to gauge market interest.”
Sanderson emphasized that he intends to maintain significant control over his intellectual property in the gaming space:
“Several major industry players I admire have already expressed interest. If you are leading a AAA studio or a substantial indie firm and have long wanted to create a game based on Mistborn or The Stormlight Archive, I encourage you to reach out to my representatives.”
While no contracts have been signed and the project hasn’t been officially greenlit, the growing enthusiasm from major developers suggests a high-scale RPG set in Sanderson’s universe could soon become a reality.
