Academy Award–nominated Austin Butler (Elvis; Dune: Part Two) is reportedly being considered for the lead role in the reboot of Miami Police: Vice Division, according to Variety.
Michael B. Jordan (Creed) was announced as joining the project a day earlier. The film will be directed by Joseph Kosinski (Formula 1), and Universal has slated a theatrical release for August 6, 2027.
The TV series Miami Police: Vice Division aired in the United States from 1984 to 1989. It followed two undercover detectives tasked with taking down Miami’s most notorious drug traffickers. A feature adaptation starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx was released in 2006.
Butler most recently appeared in Darren Aronofsky’s crime thriller “Caught Stealing”.
