Assassin’s Creed Creator Shows 1666: Amsterdam Gameplay With Daytime Investigations and Nighttime Hunting
A new gameplay video for 1666: Amsterdam shows its core loop. The heroine investigates cases by day, looking for demons behind human faces, and hunts them by night.
The footage debuted at the Galaxies Autumn showcase, with new gameplay clips and a look at the atmosphere of this action-adventure game from Patrice Désilets, one of the creators of the first Assassin’s Creed.
Players control Noa, a witch who explores the supernatural mysteries of historical Amsterdam. During the day, she gathers clues and exposes the demonic creatures known as the Originals, which disguise themselves as humans. She has to use magic carefully to avoid raising suspicion among the townspeople.
At night, the monsters reveal their true nature, and the investigation gives way to open combat. Noa uses her magical abilities to eliminate the threats. The game will also include other characters, and players can control a cat named Aaron in certain sequences.
1666: Amsterdam has been in early access on PC since August 25, 2026. The developers have not yet announced a date for the full release. The game currently has mixed reviews on Steam.
